Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (MESHA), a charity of The Hospital Research Foundation Group (THRFG), is seeking a motivated individual who will be a Program Officer – Wellbeing, for current and former military and first responders and their families and also support the wellbeing of the MESHA facilitators delivering programs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Program Officer – Wellbeing, will:

  • Lived Experience and Facilitator Wellbeing: Working in collaboration with the Head of THRFG - MESHA and the Program Lead – Training and Assessment, the Program Officer – Wellbeing will provide support for the ongoing wellbeing of the lived experience facilitator team and contribute to the risk assessment process in accordance with Safe Work Procedures.
  • Program Delivery and Facilitation: Perform Lead Facilitator responsibility for the delivery and facilitation of MESHA programs for members and industry service providers, including: MindRight/StoryRight transition workshops, Cultural Awareness training and/or GEARS program and more.
  • Program Coordination: Ensure thorough planning and coordination of MESHA’s programs by implementing directions, policies, and procedures.
  • Program Administration and Logistics: Support the Client Relationship Officer with program administration and logistics, ie prepare program materials, manage program bookings, maintain client relationship database, handle intake and group allocation, referrals and inquiries.
  • Communication and Marketing: Contribute to MESHA’s communications and marketing by offering insights from a service personnel perspective.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain client relationships for future business development.

 

We're looking for individuals who possess:

  • Experience leading and supporting teams to enable a flourishing workplace culture.
  • Significant lived experience of service and service culture.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in program training and facilitation in a military or emergency service organisation, educational, health, business, or not-for-profit context.

Desirable skills:

  • Tertiary (University or TAFE) qualified in one or more of the following disciplines: health or human service management (preferably mental health), social science, social work, community development, counselling, mental health nursing, psychology, training and assessment.
  • Experience working within a mental health paradigm and supporting clinical governance supervision to staff.
  • Previous experience (whether professional or personal) with military, veterans, police, or emergency services context.
  • Business management, administration and/or development; training design and/or delivery; customer relationship management; human resource management; marketing and communications.
  • High integrity and commitment to values-based service delivery.
  • Resilience, with a demonstrated ability to deliver to deadlines.
  • High emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
