The Hospital Research Foundation Group exists for every South Australian. Our purpose is simple – together, fight for better health and wellbeing for our community through life-changing medical research and improved healthcare. The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Creative Health delivers therapeutic art and diversional programs for brain and spinal rehabilitation, those with cognitive impairment, acute care, mental health, and veteran and emergency first responders suffering symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress. We are looking for passionate volunteers to assist Diversional Artist and Activity Hub Coordinator, Brad Wilson in delivering a range of services and activities at The Activity Hub, The Repat Health Precinct. The Activity Hub is a safe space to support patients on their rehabilitation journey, where they can spend time away from clinical spaces and be immersed in a range of activities. These activities aim to empower patients, improve mental health, reduce anxiety and assist in recovery. Fitted with a range of equipment, tools and materials, The Activity Hub offers: - Woodwork
- Arts and Crafts
- Gardening
- Virtual Reality
- Digital and traditional gaming
- 3D Printing
As a volunteer you will ideally have: - A National Police Clearance Certificate (or be willing to get one)
- A Working with Children Check or Vulnerable Person Related Employment Check (or be willing to get one)
- Effective listening and communications skills.
- Ability to relate and engage with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Ability to be compassionate and empathic.
- Ability to undertake duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Resilience and ability to handle difficult situations.
- Have the physical ability to undertake the duties in a safe manner.
- Comply with Work Health & Safety and Infection Control requirements.
- Complete induction specific to Activity Hub and SA Health.
- Complete all annual mandatory training requirements.
